Carefully Consider What Type of
Safety Gate You Should Buy
|
OK, when discussing a safety gate, I’m stating the obvious here, but all home owners want the best for their precious little ones, right? However, there are safety features that do not always get handed to you upon the purchase of a house, and certain installations and safeguards will need to be installed after buying one. One must-have feature that homeowners with kids and/or young pets oftentimes want installed is some type of pet or child safety gate. Safety barricades such as these can be life savers (literally!) in many areas of the house, but before buying one, make sure to familiarize yourself with the different installations and safety gate types you can put in your house.

Pressure Mounted Gate
Just like any safety gate, this can be purchased conveniently right online. This is very easy to install and will not require any complex installation procedures. Since this is a pressure gate, you need a single-hand release for this to be properly installed on both ends of the opening where you would like it to go. Usually a pressure mounted gate is a wood gate or a plastic gate (sometimes steel, too) but NEVER to be used at the top of stairs.
Wall Mounted Gate
A wall mount gate is often made of tubular steel and is highly recommended if you have extremely strong pets or small children at home. The paint that is used to make the tubular steel pleasing to the eyes is non-toxic to the little ones. Just as the name suggests, a wall mounted gate will need to be mounted onto the wall with the use of brackets and screws, which come with the kit itself. These are very easy to install, more durable and more reliable (these are the type that DO go at the top of stairs).
Extra Wide Pet Gate / Extra Wide
Baby Gate
There are also extra wide gates you can take a look at. These gates are suggested for openings that are too wide for the traditional safety gates. This has been made possible by state-of-the-art connections for a network of traditional gate brackets and allowing only one opening. This is great for homes that do not have as much partition as other homes would and would need additional security features for their young children and pets.
Free Standing Gate
Sometimes, when you have a small areas to block off, all you need is a sturdy portable gate that you can just pick up and take from one end of the house to another. In such a case a free standing gate may be the perfect solution. This is the type of gate that you can even travel in the car with (if you have an SUV). Free standing gates are good to block small openings for small children and small dogs. This way you don’t have to mark up your walls with screws or even pressure gate poles.
There are other designs that are just derivatives of these simple classifications of safety gates. Analyze the need of your home when it comes to the risk at hand and the space that needs to be worked on for your case. These two things are very essential for you to find out how you would be able to choose then install a great safety gate for your home sweet home.
